What is HGH and how does it work in the body naturally?

Human Growth Hormone (HGH) is a hormone that is released into our blood stream after the GHRH (Growth hormone Releasing Hormone) binds to the Pituitary gland in our brains. Typically, the pituitary gland is contained by a substance called somatostatin. The Somatostatin will stay attached to the receptors on the pituitary gland; this means the GHRH cannot bind. However, during specific times of the day, the somatostatin is released from the pituitary gland and the GHRH can finally bind, which results in the release of the Human Growth Hormone. This occurs several times through the day; usually during stressful situations, and even at night when resting.

As humans age, there is a decrease in the release of HGH. Therefore, it takes longer for older people to heal. At the age of 20, the average human peaks in their HGH. Every decade after that, the Human Growth Hormone decreases by approximately 15-30%. This means that by age 40, they have roughly 50% of the HGH they once had at half the age.

What is Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is the first 29 peptides of the Growth Hormone Release Hormone, and it acts entirely the same way. It is a mixture of Sermorelin and GHRH receptor peptide-6. Interesting enough, Sermorelin started out as a medication for Cerebral Palsy, and Cystic Fibrosis. It was used originally to help children grow at the average growth rate.

What is GHRP-6?

Growth Hormone Receptor Peptide 6 is a substance that is mixed into the Sermorelin that gives the pituitary gland the ability to have a human growth hormone release within 15-20 minutes of administering. This is possible because the GHRP-6 bind makes the somatostatin release from the pituitary gland that causes the GHRH to bind and then finally the release of the HGH. When the GHRH and Sermorelin are able to bind to the pituitary gland together, it causes an increased stimulation, which entails a greater amount of HGH to be released into the blood stream.

What is the difference between HGH and Sermorelin?

Sermorelin is not HGH; it is a like hormone to the GHRH. Human Growth Hormone is an illegal substance and cannot be prescribed to patients for use. When HGH is injected into the body it is genetically engineered in a lab to mimic the effects of natural HGH. The human growth hormone is a much larger molecule that reaches 190 amino acids, whereas Sermorelin is 29. Sermorelin is much safer and has not shown any increase of cancer possibility, unlike injectable HGH.

Sermorelin does not add HGH to the body, instead it stimulates the release of the HGH your body has already formulated.

Can Testosterone Replacement Therapy and Sermorelin be done together?

Yes! It has proven effective to increase energy and strength, and even more so when the medications are used together.

How is it administered?

This medication is given Subcutaneously; in the stomach or the fatty tissue in the back of the arm. It should be injected every night before bedtime, and the patient should not eat 2 hours before or after the injection. If the patient does eat, the drug will not be effective. Also note that this drug takes 3-4 months before the patient will feel the full effects. The reason is takes this long is because the body needs to adapt to this change slowly, otherwise it increases chances of side effects. Patients can be on this medication for as long as they desire, they can also take breaks in between. However, it is suggested to be on Sermorelin for 4-6 months minimum.

How do we monitor the levels?

Since HGH is spontaneously released into the blood stream, we would have to do the blood when it has been released (nearly impossible). Therefore, we monitor the insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1). Studies have shown that as HGH rises in the human body, so does the IGF-1 at a very similar rate. The patient will have monthly blood draws to make sure the IGF-1 is not too high, or too low.

What does this Cost?

Unfortunately, Sermorelin is not covered by insurance companies; they feel that age-defying medication is not necessary for a patient’s health. The cost averages to $10 per day. However, this does include the mixing instructions, needles, alcohol pads, and all other supplies needed for this drug.

What are the concerns with this medication?

Sermorelin/Ipamorelin & Administration Instructions

  1. Mix the dry Sermorelin/GHRP-6 powder with 3mL of Bacteriostatic water.
    1. Do NOT Shoot the Bacteriostatic water directly into the powder. Aim it toward the side of the vial, and after all the Bacteriostatic water in the vial, gently swirl the solution until it is completely dissolved and clear. DO NOT SHAKE.
  2. Using the provided Insulin syringe (1.0mL), Draw up 0.3mL of the mixed solution.
    1. Clean off the top of the vial with an alcohol pad, and insert the needle into the top of the vial. Turn the vial upside down and pull the syringe until the stopper is at the 0.3mL mark.
  3. Administer the 0.3mL of the mixed solution to any Subcutaneous site.
    1. Stomach, or fatty area of the arm
    2. Make sure to wipe the selected injection site with Alcohol pad prior to injection.
    3. Give the injection at bedtime.
Refrigerate the vial AT ALL TIMES to maintain potency.
Do NOT eat 2 hours prior or after giving the injection.
